“Let there be light!” Then, there was darkness…
This is a piece of writing about reality. No matter how positive, courageous, or faithful one can be, things do not always go according to plan-and that is okay.
This truth hit me three years after graduating from secondary school. When my plans failed to come into fruition and I lacked the wisdom to navigate the fallout, I found myself numb to the world. As the comforts of childhood wore off and I stepped into adulthood, the gates of a dark abyss swung open. It all began single question:
“What is my purpose in life?”
Upon asking myself this, something life-changing happened. I chose to seek God. It was a season where I discovered light and darkness existing at the exact same time; my search for God forced me to confront shadows within myself.
For some, this transition is a brief, confusing challenge quickly overcome. For others, unfortunately, it proves to be far more destructive- leading to a complete mental breakdown.
I am here to say to the one experiencing back-and-forth internal wars to the point of breakdown and numbness…I get it.
